El Consejo de los Guardianes ha dado por proclamados los resultados de las elecciones iraníes: no hay pruebas de fraude, anuncia, y por tanto Ahmadineyad ha conseguido la reelección. Volverá a tomar posesión de su cargo en las primeras semanas de agosto. ¿Fin de la discusión?

La pelea interna del ex presidente Rafsanyani por anular las elecciones estaba condenada al fracaso una vez que el líder supremo, el ayatolá Jamenei, dictaminara que la victoria de Ahmadineyad era justa. La división en la cúpula dirigente del país existe. Eso no quiere decir que tenga que provocar necesariamente una fractura de las instituciones. Rafsanyani goza de mucho poder. Por ejemplo pudo resistir el desafío de los radicales cuando éstos intentaron desbancarlo de la presidencia de la Asamblea de Expertos. Sus protestas contra la acusación de corrupción esgrimida por Ahmadineyad en la campaña le han servido para que Jamenei salga públicamente en su defensa.

Sin embargo, Rafsanyani no es el ‘kingmaker’ del sistema, el hombre fuerte que puede manejar las instituciones del país en las que no está presente. No está en condiciones de desafiar abiertamente a Jamenei ni de ponerse al frente de una revuelta popular. Es un hombre del sistema. Hasta Ahmadineyad puede presumir de ser más revolucionario por aquello de que el actual presidente se ha aprovechado del desprecio que muchos iraníes de clases populares sienten por los clérigos. Es una de las curiosas contradicciones de Irán. Ahmadineyad venera al líder supremo y llena sus discursos de conceptos religiosos y hasta mesiánicos (por la creencia en la futura llegada del decimosegundo imán), pero ha quitado poder a los clérigos para dárselos a las fuerzas de seguridad y milicias. Y es lo bastante habilidoso como para controlar estos centros de poder sin cuestionar la autoridad del líder supremo.
